Sustainability
Clean,Secure, Recyclable.
Energy storage should not trade one environmental problem for another. QED’s cells are built from abundant materials, sourced in North America, and made to be recycled.
Materials
Abundant, non-toxic
Zinc is one of the most abundant and widely produced metals on earth. QED’s cells pair it with a water-based electrolyte.
No lithium. No cobalt.
None anywhere in the chain, so no exposure to the most concentrated battery-mineral markets.
Non-toxic and conflict-free
Materials chosen to be safe to handle, and free of conflict minerals.
Water-based electrolyte
Non-combustible: no flammable organic solvents in the cell.
Supply chain
A 100% North American supply chain
All raw materials are sourced from Canada and the US. Shorter supply routes mean fewer miles, more visibility into how materials are produced, and no dependence on a single country’s refining capacity.
Life cycle
Built to come back around
QED’s cells are rechargeable, and fully recyclable at end of life. The materials that go in can be recovered, so the next cell starts where the last one ended.
- Raw materials Abundant, non-toxic, conflict-free materials, with no lithium and no cobalt anywhere in the chain. Inputs are sourced from Canada and the US.
- Manufacture One chemistry platform. What changes from one generation to the next is the form factor and the duty cycle — not the underlying invention.
- Deployment With no fire risk to manage, there is less to ship, permit, insure and site around. Local codes and site requirements still apply.
- End of life Rechargeable in use, and fully recyclable at end of life.
Fewer hidden costs
Safe to ship, safe to site
Ships as ordinary freight
Non-hazardous, so no dangerous-goods packaging, carriers or paperwork.
No fire-suppression systems
No suppression chemicals, cooling plant or exclusion zones to build and maintain. Local codes still apply.
Sited where lithium can’t
Storage can sit closer to the buildings and people it serves. Local codes still apply.
Absolute Safety, Absolute Energy.
